About this artwork

A supernova remnant 11,090 light-years away on a 20" x 16" luminous wall art panel. The inner shell is dense with bright pink and orange filaments, intricate and fractured, like shattered glass suspended mid-explosion. The outer edges trail into wisps of white, a haze where the blast front is still pushing into surrounding material. Light echoes scatter across the field, distant dust lit and still cooling from a star that died centuries ago.

This is a real NASA photograph, taken by the James Webb Space Telescope's NIRCam instrument at near-infrared wavelengths. Colors are assigned from wavelength data, each filter mapped to reveal structure invisible to the naked eye. Powered by CoreGLO™, the image glows the way the data was meant to be seen. Colors true to the processed photograph, the pinks and oranges staying vivid, light that belongs to the image rather than washing over it.
